Saggar vs Warp

Warp rebuilds the terminal. Saggar organises what you run in it.

Warp is a good terminal. It is fast, its block model and command editing are genuinely better than a plain shell, and its palette and workflows are well made. It runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows, and its AI is built in.

That built-in AI is the fork in the road. Warp's answer to coding agents is Warp's agent. Saggar's answer is that you already picked one — Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, Pi, OpenCode — and what you need is somewhere to run six of them at once without losing track.

One correction to a claim that gets repeated: Warp dropped its login requirement in November 2024, and you can use it signed out. Telemetry is a separate matter — it is on by default, and on the free plan it has to stay on to use the AI features.

What Warp does well

  • A fast native renderer and a command editor that beats a bare shell for editing and reuse.
  • Blocks: every command and its output as an addressable unit you can navigate, share, and re-run.
  • Warp Drive for saved workflows and notebooks, shareable across a team.
  • Runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows, so a mixed team can standardise on it.
  • A built-in agent, if you would rather not choose one yourself.

Where Saggar takes a different line

  • Saggar brings no model and sells no tokens. It runs the agent CLIs you already pay for and recognises what they are doing — including their permission prompts.
  • No account to use the app, and no telemetry condition attached to any feature. Crash sharing is opt-in, and your projects stay on your Mac.
  • Attention is the organising idea. Five statuses per session, one priority-ordered queue, and ⌘J to walk it.
  • Remote control is part of the product: read a terminal and answer its prompt from your phone, gated on your account and an explicit approval at the Mac.
